South Africa Here We Go

Laura and I just spent $3,800 for plane tickets to Durban South Africa. That was a big decision!...especially since that is about what our bank acount has in it right now.

It is going to be Christmas South Africa style--Hot.

My sister, Kristy, and her husband, Ben, have lived in South Africa for almost 4 years now and we have yet to visit them. They are an incredible couple and we are tight. I can't wait.

They are 'missionaries' to college students in South Africa. I don't like using the word missionary because it can conjure up many images that don't apply to Kristy and Ben Carlson.

As a tribute to my excitement here are a couple pics of my sis and bro-in-law...the pictures are about three years old. I will have to get some new pics when we see them in December.

MR. Bnut
wow, those guys must be very... lucky.
enjoying your blog spot, I wish I could spend more time here, South African internet-too slow and too expensive. but challanging thoughts, can't wait to drink coffee and dive into them face to face.
Cheers
B

how exciting! in the few hours i spent with ben and kristi at your house a couple of years ago, they made quite an impression. they seem like wonderful people. i'm sure your trip will be well worth the financial risk.

I agree, renee, and I will, nurse_andi!

Ben, you are my first family member that is not on my wife's side of the family to leave a comment on this blog...and from South Africa even!

I feel like I should have a prize for you :)

Brother Brett,
I love how you think...it's been great to review your "blogging" over the last month. Why didn't I get any of those "great thinker" genes?
Ben and I can't wait to see you and Laura...we feel overwhelmingly encouraged.
Hambakahle,
KJ

KJ, we just got our actual tickets in the mail--a whole stack of them. I can't wait to see you. I will share more of my thinking genes with you...all you have to do is provide coffee (that we, of course, will be bringing)!

Ben still gets the prize...
